Learn more about Christianity

  1. Do you know where you are going in life?
  2. Do you have questions about life and faith?
  3. Why not come along to one of our free courses?

We run two relaxed, informal courses that many people have found answer the big questions about life.  You won't be talked down to, or pressured to do something you don't want.Does God Exist?

Start! Courses

Start! Courses are lively 6-week courses suitable for anyone who wants a basic introduction to the Christian faith and are held at St Aidan's as demand dictates.  There is no obligation to "join up" at the end of the course and Start! assumes no prior knowledge. One person who attended a Start! Course said, "Straight away Start! began to answer questions that I had been too shy to ask."

Session 1  -  Life is for Living

Session 2  -  Oh my God!

Session 3  -  Jesus who?

Session 4  -  What's gone wrong?

Session 5  -  Dying to save us

Session 6  -  Into the arms of love

Alpha Courses

Alpha Courses are also an introduction to Christianity but run on ten thought-provoking weekly sessions, plus a day away Each session typically lasts two hours and begins with a meal, or refreshments, and chance to chat.

This is followed by a short talk and discussion of the subject. No question is considered too hostile or  too stupid. The emphasis is upon exploration and discovery in a relaxed and informal environment.

The Alpha course is designed primarily for people who aren't churchgoers and each course is open to everyone who would like to attend.

Over 2 million people in the UK and 13 million worldwide have now attended an Alpha course.

The Code

The Code is a manual for practical Christian living for men.  Reading it could radically change your life.  A group of men meet on Tuesday mornings to discuss "The Code".  Over the next year they will be looking at the 12 Codes for Men, one a month.   More>

House Groups

A high proportion of our church folk attend one of the six small groups for mutual support, to learn more and to discover how to put their faith into practice.  Most groups meet each week in member's homes.  If you would like to join a group speak to Mick Fryer - the vicar.  If you would prefer, you can speak to one of the house group leaders or hosts.
