St Aidan's Walking Group
The St.Aidan's Walking Group meet each month to enjoy fellowship together and a walk of anything between 5 and 20 miles. Most walks are on a Saturday, normallying meet at 10a.m. at the church (though watch for details as meeting time and venue can vary). Dates for 2011 are shown below.
Generally the walks are between 8 and 12 miles and are suitable for anyone with a minimum level of fitness. Most of the walks are "up-dale" and "across fields" and therefore sturdy, waterproof footware is advised as well a water proof coat (though at times a sun-hat is also needed!). We normally stop for a picnic lunch, so bring a drink and a bite to eat.
Keep an eye on the web site for details of each walk. If you are interested in joining us for any of the walks, please contact Dave Ingram (01482 897576) for details.

August SUMMER HOLIDAYS
29th September Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge (23.5 miles)
The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge is a walking challenge route with the circuit starting and ending at Horton-in-Ribblesdale, visiting the three highest peaks in Yorkshire: Pen-y-Ghent (691m), Whernside (728m), and Ingleborough (723m). The total distance walked is 37.5km (23.5 miles), with the aim of completing in less than 12 hours.
This is a long and demanding walk, with a total climb of some 5,200 feet. The peaks themselves can be pretty hostile in poor weather, and ideally walkers should have an average to good standard of fitness and stamina, and most certainly suitable mountain equipment and some outdoors experience before attempting the challenge. The walking is over a variety of terrains, and even though the paths have been improved immensely over recent years, certain sections can still be very boggy and energy sapping
By tradition, the walk must be completed within 12 hours for you to be able to join the "Three Peaks of Yorkshire Club".
The Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge includes some of the most rugged and spectacular countryside in the Yorkshire Dales National Park and is a veritable delight with panoramic views.
27th October Arras (10.5 miles)
Another new walk in the Wolds taking in familiar places
24th November Pickering to Levisham (7.5 miles)

27th December Humber Foreshore Family Walk (5 miles)
Our annual, post Christmas family ramble, walking along the foreshore between North Ferriby and the Humber Bridge
