Guides
Girls aged 10 and 14 years old, this is for you.
Are you fed up and want something to do in your spare time? Or just looking for something interesting then now is your chance to join a worldwide organisation that has been going for 100years.
Over the next year we are waking up some old Great British traditions in a challenge set for the different sessions. There will be things like candle making, star gazing with a difference, things for all the seasons. We are also planning local and international trips, for a day, a weekend and for a week. Does any of this interest you?
We would like to see you at St.Aidans Guides, on a Wednesday night 7.15 - 9pm
If you are interested contact Dorothy Chapman (Guide Leader) 782272 after 6pm or you can email her or ring Sheila Green 782289 (District commissioner).
Dorothy Chapman, Guide Leader writes:

Over the past year the Guide celebrated 100 years of guiding. We took 5 Girls to Belgium at the end of March on the Sail of the Century; they all seem to have a good time. We took 14 Girls to Paxwold in April for the weekend; this is a Guiding house in Market Weighton were we took them back in time doing activities from the past and wearing old type uniform for the weekend. Jane came to help along with Christine from Kingston Wesley. The help was much appreciated.
During the Centenary year there were a number of County activities. We had 8 Girls take part in The Centipede Stampede which was towards the end of June. They had to visit as many places in the region as possible on public transport. The girls also had activities to do in certain places if you want to know more, ask the girls and they will tell you what they did. We went from Hull Station – Bishop Burton – Pocklington – Beverley – Driffield – Bridlington – Hornsea then back to St.Aidans, all this in one day (we were all tired) but it was fun. We were the most travelled unit approximately 100 miles on East Yorkshire Buses.
The start of the summer holidays we went to London on Hull trains, did activities in a Guide centre, walked round the sights and went on the London Eye arrived back in Hull for about 11pm. At the beginning of September we participated in an activity called Hands across the Humber with a picnic and trail in little Switzerland. At the end of November we had an early Christmas meal at Lambweth which the Guides enjoyed and in December we went Carol singing at North Country Court.
The Guides came into the café to do some research on the computers about thinking day they really enjoyed it. Thank you to Mick and John for making it possible and the hospitality of Mel. I should also like to thank Joanne for testing a badge and Tracey for telling the girls about Tear fund. Since the Guides have been receiving their awards at church parade they seem to be well enthused about coming and feel that they belong to the church as well as Guides.
I should also like to thank Alison for her continued support and help at Guides
